Unit 6-4 Gantt Charts

A Gannt chart is a bar graph that can be used to depict a project’s schedule. It shows the start and finish of project activities, groups of activities and milestone information.

Here is an example a Gantt chart prepared using MS project, a very popular project management software

In the above chart every task is started at its earliest possible time. This is what we referred to earlier as an early start schedule. The critical tasks are  indicated in red. The chart also shows  a summary task, a group of tasks that will be done by say an engineering group.
